We saw the outside of the cathedral. Now lunch. Then the inside.
Lunch was at the New Inn. Real New. Founded in the 1700s.
Meanwhile back at the cathedral.
Inside was just as impressive.
My mood shot.
Are you in a cathedral mood yet?
What's a cathedral without stain glass.
Quite the baptismal font.
Nice windows.
I see dead people. Or statues and tombs of dead people.
That was a tough knight. (Sorry again Jude)
That's a massive organ!
Man, they bury a lot of people in their churches.
Kathleen has about had it. It's been a long day.
One more look at the outside.
And the sign.
A really nice gate on an English estate.
And look what's now open in Southampton! Kirkland Brands!!!
A monument in Southampton.
The Southampton War Memorial
On the gate the guild hall.
A pretty cool medieval gate in downtown Southampton.
Lions. No tigers and bears.
The other side of the gate.
Downtown Southampton.
The Titanic Memorial.
Walking back to our B&B we saw these girls on their veranda.
The next morning we were off to the Portsmouth Historic Dockyard.
Carol and Mike met this strange looking guy.
And we saw Henry the 8th's favorite ship that had just been raised.
Some fast facts.
The actual ship's bell. Everything in the museum was raised from the Mary Rose. Nothing reconstructed.
Now that's a big gun.
The pipes are pulling moisture from the Mary Rose. They will be removed in 5 years.
The actual skeleton and what he looked like.
The overall shot of the Mary Rose.
Going onboard the HMS Victory. Great Britain's most famous ship.
You better be under 5 feet tall to get around quickly.
Watch out! Low ceilings.
The table was set for an admiral's luncheon.
Taken from the deck of the Victory.
A school group.
The aft cabins on the Victory.
Not quite the same as the Millenium Class verandas.
A Victory panorama.
Two hot Mamas in the Portsmouth Naval Dockyard.
The M33 is one of only two remaining British warships from WWI.
The main museum.
Kathleen loved the look of this forklift.
On the harbor cruise.
A new ship headed to Saudi Arabia.
More ships being sent off. This one sold to Argentina and handed over that day.
Check out the front of this carrier. It's for Harriers.
Medieval castle in the middle of modern naval warfare.
Spinnaker Tower. The Space Needle of Portsmouth.
A busy port. Here come the boats.
The mouth of the port.
Pretty cool masthead.
The HMS Warrior, built in 1860.
Sing it with me. He's Henry the 8th he is, Henry the 8th he is, he is....
On to Arundel and lunch.
A pretty cool castle. Wish we had checked the closing time.
The Arundel River.
Lunch at the Black Rabbit. Great food and drink.
A really beautiful place.
This rowboat was used in the first Harry Potter movie.
Arundel Castle from the Black Rabbit.
Some beautiful flowers!
Kathleen, our guide Jim and Carol.
We missed getting in by one minute.
The door is closed. Go home!
Or to the graveyard nearby.
Or this big cathedral.
You can never see too many cathedrals.
That may be an even bigger organ.
Love this view of the British countryside.
