Sea gulls gather as the Captain uses the thrusters and stirs up the bottom.
Hungry?
Warnemunde has a cool canal into the port. These people live next to it on the right side (as you are leaving).
A big cruise ship going by? No big deal. I have to mow the lawn.
Downtown Warnemunde
The train leaves Warnemunde
No, you aren't seeing double. The train is stil leaving.
Not sure what these are but they look like barracks.
The cruise port in Warnemunde
Very cool houses next to the port.
Some people are looking at the ship.
There is a ferry that crosses the small channel that the cruise ships come through.
The ferry leaves the port.
And heads across the channel.
To dock on the other side.
Total travel time about 3 minutes.
Thought I might use this ship as a marker for the entire trip. Liked the name.
A church in Warnemunde
The city hall (at least we were told it was) in Warnemunde.
A ferry leaves the port headed for Stockholm or Helsinki.
In Berlin in the rain. Rained all day. This is the Olympic stadium. Built by Hitler, Jesse Owens ran here.
Cadillac sculpture.
A big radio tower our guide went on and on about.
These bears are kind of the symbol of Berlin. They were everywhere.
Kissing?
Love this one. We were told it was installed by the Mayor of Berlin for people to pose in.
Sculpture that represents the four sections of Berlin when the city was divided.
The Berlin zoo
More bears. Companies could buy them by donating to charity.
A modern theater. Not sure about the architecture but then we have the EMP here in Seattle.
The Holocaust Memorial
Probably prettier in the rain.
Loved the shadows I got.
The remains of Hitler's bunker where he died. Good riddance.
Same thing.
Sections of the Berlin Wall
Closeup
A plaque that commemorates the Wall.
Another piece of the wall.
Back at the Holocaust Memorial.
See the pink pipes, they are all over the place.
Part of the Berlin Wall still standing where it stood.
Statuary in Berlin
A government building.
With an ornate facade.
Beautiful outside but ugly acts were perpetrated inside by the Nazis.
Signage for the Berlin Wall Monument.
The Topography of Terror exhibit.

Another bear. They were the sunniest part of Berlin.
Coming up on Checkpoint Charlie.

Berlin architecture—a strange mix of classic and modern.
Pouring rain means that in many places Mike and I were the only ones to get off the bus.
Or we shot through the rainy bus windows.
Some nice modern art.
If I had had a tripod with me, this would have made a great HDR photo.
I have searched my notes and can't tell you for sure what building this is. They did have great sculptures and more.
See what I mean.
This was across the street. Too much modern with too much classical architecture.
See what I mean?
The TV Tower. There are people up in that.
Interesting fountain.
The entire building.
Behind that building were more. They are part of a university.
Remember the pink pipes? Here are blue ones.
Another piece or modern architecture next to a classical one.
It was across the street from this memorial.
A beautiful tribute.
Outside of the memorial.
On top of Humboldt University (which I thought was in Eureka, CA.
More of the same.
The Book Burning Memorial. Think of the first Indiana Jones movie when Hitler was burning books.
Art is everywhere in Europe and my camera always seems to find it. You have to hunt for this in Seattle.
My, what a big clock.
Too modern for the gorgeous classical. Zoning laws needed.
Not Napolean. But looks like him.
See!
Modern art and pipes.
Beautiful grove of urban trees next to the Memorial.
The Brandenburg Gate
On top of the Brandenburg Gate
On the way to the Reichstag.
The new railroad station.
The Reichstag,
Across the street. Our guide called it the Washing Machine.
Even from the Reichstag, you can see this right behind it.
Going by the presidential palace we saw the guard coming out. Our guide had the bus driver pull over.
The guard stopped and then the president of Germany came out.
He's the one in the doorway.
Leave it to politicians to make others go out in the pouring rain just to march for them.
One big statue of the Queen
And another happy bear.
And a cool paint job
The Charlottenburg Palace as we drove towards it.
Another great bear

Up close and personal.
Yves, our guide. I have nothing really good to say about him.
