7 Photos a week for all 52 weeks of 2013
If you are here then you must have heard from me that I was going to start a photography project on the first of the year, and I invited you to join me. So let’s do it!
Here’s how it will work. Our job is to take seven photos each week for the entire year of 2013. That means we will take at least 365 photos.
Then, once we have taken the photos, we have to post them where others can view them on the web–could be on Flickr, Picasa, Shutterfly, Webshots, Dropbox Photos, SmugMug or any other popular photo sharing site. You could even use your own blog if you have one. The key here is to do it someplace that is easy for you. I will, in all likelihood be posting mine on 500px.
Once you have posted them, drop me an e-mail with a link to where your photos are. Every Friday I will post the links to everyone’s photos on this site.
If you have anything you want to say about the photos you post, you can either put that on your site or send me a note and I will add it to the 752 site.
Also, from time to time, I will ask that you include one photo in a particular week’s shots (could be more) that fits a theme or is kind of an assignment that I come up with or that you suggest. For instance, for the first week of the year, please post at least one self portrait.
I know that participating in this kind of project can be time consuming, and it also requires a commitment by all of us, but imagine how much more you will know about photography and your camera by the end of the year. I did this (except that it was a photo every day) in 2008 and 2011 and I learned so much about photography. It was the best education ever, not just in using my camera but in photography in general. You can see the ones I did then by clicking here for 2008 and here for 2011.
If you are relatively new to photography, I suggest that you only decide to do this if you have a digital single lens reflex (DSLR) camera. Doing this with a point and shoot or a camera phone just won’t cut it. Sorry.
I would also ask that you don’t jump in at the start unless you really think you can keep it up all year long. As you can see from my 2008 and 2011 projects, I will do the entire year in 2013. It was real pressure to have to post them every day, but I am hoping to make it easier this year by posting only once a week.
If you have any questions make sure to click my e-mail below and just ask. I truly hope that at least a few of you will make the commitment to join me in being a better, more consistent photographer in 2013 . I promise you will learn a lot about photography and about yourself. I know I did.
